The last leg of our journey was a 3 hour flight from McMurdo Station to the South Pole Station. Our flight was from 1 AM to 4 AM!
Our LC-130 at McMurdo before departure
We were on the same type of plane as the flight from Christchurch to McMurdo: an LC-130 operated by the NY Air National Guard.
Interior of the plane. Though it may not look like it, the red seats are surprisingly comfortable.
Brief view of the mountains during the flight. Most of the flight was too cloudy to see the sights below.
We arrived around 4AM, but since the Sun is up all the time, it is as bright as day even for our middle of the night arrival.
